ALUMNI MATCH - Sunday 14th November 1999 Alumni 15 Students 41 Short Report: Rather disappointedly only one match was possible this year. We hope that this proves to be an aberration and that the customary two sides will be once again fielded next year. The match itself proved to be of the traditional format, the alumni trying to exert a degree of control as against the students' desire for a free-flowing game (rather like the drink at the previous evenings dinner!). This year for the first time since 1993 the students prevailed. A number of handling errors by the alumni gifted the ball to the students the ball in positions, which with the students pace, meant a score was almost an inevitability. ALUMNI DINNER - Saturday 13th November 1999 Another great social success. 75 people combining distinguished alumni, current students and partners returned to The George Hotel after last years event at The University of Nottingham Portland Building. I think that no-one can doubt that The George Hotel is our home. This year the Notts. Medics Football Club held its dinner in one of the adjoining suites joining us later for the socializing for which the rugby club has become (in)famous. The club was glad to see Mr Pegg back amongst us, and the evening was controlled with his customary skill by Mr Edington. We hope that next year even more old boys will make the effort to attend and help to ensure that this evening continues to go from strength to strength. See Photos of the Alumni Dinner 1999 |
